Summer Barbecue Date this week! See you there.
Well the food’s ordered, the beer’s ordered, all’s we need now is you! Turn up any time after 2pm and eat and drink as much as you can (until we run out) all for £10 per family.
Joining us this year are Honorary Members Matt Murray, Willie Carr and Richard Skirrow. So a chance for you to show them how to play the beautiful game in the lads versus dads match or to have a relaxed chat over a pint. Matt and Richard will be making their debut at this event and I’m sure we’ll show them a good time.
Don’t let the weather put you off, as everything is paid for we need it eaten and drunk. See you there. Coxy
Paul Astley RIP
The DDCWWFCSC has lost a dear friend, Paul Astley. Although not known by many of you, Paul was Mr Blackburn Rovers and the game at Molineux will be even more difficult due to his absence. It will be the first Wolves – Rovers match he will have missed for some 40 years!
He was genuinely hospitable and generous, and would always go out of his way for others. No matter how many turned up at his house all would get fed – and I turned up with a mini bus full once!
Paul introduced us to the Anglo Welsh Supporters League before the start of the 1982 – 83 season, and a firm friendship developed and has remained through to his recent untimely death.
At 53 he was still living life to the full, the cause of his death is still unknown. He is sadly missed by the world of football and Blackburn Rovers will be much poorer following his passing. There are 2 extensive threads running with anecdotes about Paul on Rovers Message Boards, if you put his name into google they quickly come up.
It is more appropriate I contribute mine there rather than here but visits to Ewood will not be the same again.
RIP mate. Coxy
Blackburn Tickets on sale 5pm Saturday
Tickets for next Sunday’s home game with Blackburn go on sale from 5pm on Saturday 14th, please book on line in the usual way. Last opportunity to sit in the North Bank before it’s knocked down! This is a £34 game.
Dinner Opportunity…Now Need golfers too!
I thought I’d got three members prepared to play in Matt’s testimonial Golf Day to represent the DDCWWFCSC, but unfortunately 2 of them have pulled out. This will be subsidised by the DDCWWFCSC and includes the Dinner in the evening. Every team will include a famous Wolves personality and you’ll be socialising with a lot of the team all day.
The full days event in like a combination of Wolves golf day and the end of season dinner all in one at a much, much reduced rate. So if you can play and want more details please contact Coxy in the usual way.
For all Members of the DDCWWFCSC to attend a Dinner at the Belfry on Wednesday 4th May. The Dinner follows a day golfing by many of the Wolves squad plus some other celebrities all of whom will be at the Dinner. Other non golfing celebrities and player will also be present at the dinner for a star studded night.
It is all in aid of Honorary Member Matt Murray’s Testimonial, tickets are £75 a head. The famous names include but are not limited to Mick McCarthy, Jamie O’Hara, Chris Kamara, Matt Jarvis, Michael Kightly, Kevin Doyle, Stephen Hunt, Kevin Foley, Robbie Keane, Steve Bull, Don Goodman, John Richards, Ken Hibbitt, Rob Edwards, Dave Edwards, Christophe Berra, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
So there should be 5 of our honorary Members present, and an occasion worthy of our support. See Matt’s testimonial website for details of his charities that are being supported by his testimonial.
I hope to have at least 2 tables from the DDCWWFCSC so please email Coxy if you want to come along, and how many are in your party.
Blackpool and Spurs tickets
Blackpool has all sold out, Spurs tickets go on sale from 12 noon on Sunday 27th February.
An Informal Evening with Honorary Members…a big success!
The Evening with Kevin Foley and Matt Murray and their wives at the Church End brewery was a big success. A good time was had by all. Matt said afterwards that they had had a good time and that his wife thought everyone was lovely! Kevin said he too had a good time catching up with everyone.
We have a couple of videos from the night which we’ll hopefully get on the website soon, also some photos will appear in the gallery too. Thanks to all those who attended, and to the Church End Brewery for being so accommodating.
Sincere condolences…
To member Dennis Walker on the death of his wife Beryl recently. We only met Beryl on a couple of occasions but she was at the last two dinners and thoroughly enjoyed herself. Sadly she became ill a few days after the last dinner and passed away on New Years Day. RIP.
Congratulations…
…To Dean and Kath Martin on the birth of their first child, a son called Latham. Good luck and best wishes to you all, and we’ll be expecting his subs on Saturday Dean!!
