Dinner update

Before a ticket is put on sale let alone sold we already have an impressive list of acceptances from our guests. These include Honorary Members Mike Bailey, John Richards Willie Carr Kevin Foley Richard Skirrow and John Gough, plus Terry Wharton and we believe Geoff Palmer too.

More information as we have it, tickets on sale from the start of the season, a deposit secures your place, and I expect to sell out.

Barbecue Success

The Summer 2010 Barbecue was once again a great success, the beer was good, the food was too, the weather was warm and sunny but most important the lads got beat by the Dad’s.

We were joined by a couple of Honorary members in Willie Carr and John Gough with their wives Tessa and Helen and also making his debut at the BBQ was Terry Wharton and his wife Sue.

Both Willie (aged 60) and Terry (aged 68) played their part in the Lads v Dads game, but without doubt Man of the Match was the Cat – Mark Jones who was in inspired form, thwarting the boys from every angle.

Sam Protheroe and Roy Chatterjee excelled for the boys who lost for the first time in three years.

Away from the game it was good to see Cath Protheroe looking so good after her recent health problems. Good too to see those who had travelled some way to be there, like Brian & Simone, Stuart Earl and the Oxford crew who made it.

A special thanks goes to Mrs Snell and Mike for allowing us the run of the place once again and for all of you who helped out in one way or another.

There’s loads of photos in the gallery section, courtesy of Sue Wharton and Jim Wedge.

Directions to the BBQ

Hopefully you are all coming along on Saturday for our Annual Summer Barbecue in Broadstone, here are the directions, please bring your own plate and cutlery, plus something to drink out of. Also all are expected to contribute either a pud or a salad towards the event.

From Wolverhampton take the Bridgnorth Road to Bridgnorth. Then when you get to Bridgnorth take the A458 towards Much Wenlock & Shrewsbury. When you get to the village of Morville  take the left hand fork in the road on to the B4368 signposted Craven Arms.

Then as you go downhill, the road swings round to the left, and as it swings to the right, turn off the road and over the cattle grid, take the right hand fork, then turn right and park on the lawn.

Roy Chatterjee Hat Trick Hero

Roy Chatterjee son of club Secretary Robin was the star of the show recently when he scored a hat trick in the final of the Independant Schools FA knock out cup. This was the first time that a hat trick has been scored in this prestigious  final.

A national competition Roy was playing for Shrewsbury school. You can see more if you put in ISFA into google, and follow links to the cup.  Also if you go to the Telegraph’s website and search under schools football you’ll see a further report.

Needless to say Roy was also man of the match. Well done Roy.
