Andrew Pearson lost his battle with cancer over the weekend. He passed away Saturday morning having fought the disease for over 18 months. He managed to see the majority of last season – something he didn’t expect to do over a year before, but in the week following the semi final he received the news that the Chemo was no longer keeping the cancer under control.
He had loved the Championship winning season and was thrilled to see us back in the Premier League. As a valued Member of the DDCWWFCSC for over 20 years he was known by many for his gentle smile and quiet ways. At our last Dinner when he was invited to sit on the top table, he decided to speak about his health to the members present and showed immense bravery to do so in front of a room full of people. This brought the utmost respect from everyone present.
He was not well enough to make the final game at Anfield, but we were able to help him get to all of the games that he wanted to attend during his final season. Our thoughts are with his wife Jane and the family at this sad time, RIP.
Should we get to the Semi-Finals of the FA Cup we are running a bus to Wembley, and because of my domestic arrangements we have had to organise the trip early.
The bus is now sold out, but I will still take names and get tickets so other members can still sit together at Wembley, then should we get a further 50 or so names we can get another bus.
As it is still early for many to make proper arrangements I expect some currently on the bus to make different arrangements so the next few do still stand a chance of getting on. So to be sure to register your interest early.
Now that Sky have had their say, and moved most of our fixtures either directly or indirectly, we can now confirm the date for this seasons Dinner. 19th January 2019. For once Sky have been kind and selected an early kick off on the day we had penciled in with Highgate House so that leaves everyone with loads of time to enjoy the match and travel down to Northamptonshire. Keep an eye on this website for details as they evolve, and keep the date clear…..
STOP PRESS:- Laurie and JR say yes!
Yes we’ll have Wolves MD Laurie Dalrymple and John Richards with their wives at this year’s Dinner!
Firstly, before the Burnley game on 16th September our old friend Kenny Hibbitt will be joining members of the DDCWWFCSC in the Great Western for a book signing session of his new book co-written by Tim Nash. A chance for you all to have a chat with the great man and get a signed copy of his book. Don’t forget now…0
We are having difficulty getting a date arranged with Highgate House for this year’s dinner. So few fixtures during October and November (only 3 at home out of 6 games) when coupled with Sunday fixtures means we are now having to look at January after the Leicester home game on the 13th. But as always this will be subject to change for our TV Gods who must be obeyed.
The new season is fast approaching and demand for home tickets will be high. We have 8 tickets up for grabs this season, and they will be available in the same way as in previous seasons. Firstly they are on sale to MEMBERS ONLY. So to get one you also have to pay your subs. Subs are £10 for full members, £5 for retired people, £2:50 for kids and people in full time education. The ticket prices will be as Wolves ‘on the day price’ that is £27 for the majority of games then £30 for those so called category A games. Which are Manchester City and United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham & Aresenal.
So to book this MUST BE ONLINE ONLY and ONE TICKET PER APPLICATION, if you need more than 1 apply twice, but remember MEMBERS ONLY. Tickets will be on sale approx 1 week ahead of the fixture, you pay and collect from the Western. If you book and don’t show you still have to pay as you will have prevented it being sold elsewhere. Tickets for the Everton match will go on sale Saturday 4th August at 12 Noon.
I have received the very sad news that Andy Godden member of the DDCWWFCSC passed away this week having lost his battle with Cancer. A quiet unassuming member, Andy travelled to matches from Liverpool usually sporting a gold and black Norther Soul bag. He was a close friend of Owen Hughes and was to be found in his group of friends and quite often came to games with his father. He never really spoke of his illness which he had had for some time merely saying that he was doing alright if asked. I thought he was on the road to recovery, so his passing came as quite a shock. He will be sadly missed by those of us who knew him and our thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Andy.
Congratulations to all concerned on Wolves re-gaining promotion to the Premier League. Let the party begin!
Tickets for the Blues game on Sunday 15th April are on sale from 5pm. Book online only.
Please note each application counts for ONLY ONE ticket, but there are 8 up for grabs, so if you need more please make a second or subsequent application.
This is due to out unprecidented demand for tickets we are currently experiencing.
Honorary Member of the DDCWWFCSC and current Wolves player Jack Price has said that he’s coming along to our Dinner, on Saturday 21st October after the home game with Preston North End. We’ll be following the usual formula with a 5 course dinner followed by speeches and presentations and a disco. hopefully we’ll have a few famous faces along as well to make the evening memorable.
There is plenty of accommodation available, and it is always a great breakfast. Tickets are the same price as last year £34 for members for last season or £44 for non members.
Please email Coxy if you are interested in coming along, more details to be announced as the arrangements are made.
The game on Saturday 20th with Nottingham Forest kicks of at 3pm, our 8 tickets will go on sale from Saturday 13th at 9am.
